‘Hallucinations’ is a piece that follows the story of a man who starts having sensory perceptions without external stimuli, as he starts to lose control of himself during those hallucinatory episodes. The piece presents two distinct voices, the deep, resonant voice of the man, and the high pitched sounds during his hallucinations. These two voices start off as separate personas of the man, but the lines between the two voices are quickly blurred as they intertwine together, descending into chaos and distortion in the final bars of the piece. To me, this work highlights that reality is often constructed by the human mind, and prior beliefs or expectations may override the real sensory details that your brain receives.
