SiHyun Uhm is a composer, pianist, and multimedia artist based in Los Angeles and South Korea. She has received commissions from National Sawdust, New Music USA, the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, Yamaha, Rice University, and Columbia Digital Audio Festival. Her work has been recognized with Composer Fellowships from the American Composers Orchestra and the Nashville Symphony Composer Lab, along with awards from “The President’s Own” Marine Band and the Arts Council of Korea.
A versatile artist, SiHyun’s music spans classical, electronic, pop, rock, and film/game genres. Her innovative approach earned her an award at the Shanghai International Digital Music Festival. She received consecutive UCLA Graduate Research Grants to develop multimedia art integrating Miniscope neural-imaging data with composition and performance. A $20,000 grant from the Arts Council Korea supported a large-scale multimedia concert project centered on endangered species, producing acclaimed works including Whale, Bee, and Frog.
Her compositions and research have been published by the Korea Electro-Acoustic Music Society and presented at CEAM, MOXsonic, the Moscow Electronic Music Conference, and WSU Pullman. She holds a BM from the Eastman School of Music, an MM from The Juilliard School, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in composition at UCLA, while also holding a diploma from Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
