Sebastián G. Paredes, ecuadorian composer born in Quito (1995). In 2014 he moved to Madrid and enrolled in Contemporary Composition Major at TAI Centro Universitario de Artes, where he graduated with the highest grade in his final project “Voice Extended Techniques: An approach to repertoire and performance since 1960” and his piece “Convergencias: Recitation for voice and five instruments.” He also holds a Master’s degree in Sound Arts from Universidad de las Artes (Ecuador) and a Master’s in Cultural Management from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He has attended workshops and study groups under the supervision of artists such as Mesías Maiguashca, Meredith Monk, and several leading professors in Spain like Marco Fernández-Barrero and Tagore González.

His style is strongly influenced by two elements: voice as a primary source of research and creation and performance art in the contemporary scene. His music is based on a continuous search for a personal composing system or method.

Alongside his artistic work, he maintains a strong trajectory in cultural management, programming and mediation. He has led and founded Puente Laboratorio de Creación Artística, a contemporary art and music project focused in premiere cycles, and community-based artistic projects connecting artistic creation with research and public engagement.

His practice moves between music, performance and critical sound studies, shaping an interdisciplinary approach in which composition becomes an expanded field of artistic exploration and reflection.
