THE SECOND EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION "ORAZIO MICHI DELL'ARPA" IS UNDERWAY
Deadline set for October 31, 2026. The excellent international jury that will evaluate the unpublished works for piano has been revealed.
ALIFE (CE) – Following the success of the first edition, which saw the participation of eleven countries from around the world, the Teleion Cultural Association – led by President Antonio Bellone – with the patronage of the Municipality of Alife, officially announces the opening of registrations for the highly anticipated second edition of the International Composition Competition "Orazio Michi dell'Arpa".
The ambitious project was created to honor the artistic legacy of the legendary 17th-century harp virtuoso born right in Alife, while simultaneously promoting new contemporary musical creativity on a global level. This second edition focuses specifically on the composition of unpublished pieces for piano. The call for entries is open to composers of all nationalities, with no age limit.
An International Jury of Excellence
The winners will be decided by a committee of the highest scientific and artistic profile, composed of five leading experts from the international composition, instrumental, and historical scene:
• Luigi Esposito (Italy) – Jury President, esteemed composer and visual artist.
• Carolina Santiago Martínez (Spain) – Extraordinary pianist of international renown.
• Jagoda Szmytka (Poland) – Innovative and award-winning composer.
• Giacomo Platini (Italy) – Renowned composer and professor.
• Antonio Bellone (Italy) – Musicologist, music historian, and President of Teleion.
Development and Awards
While the elimination and evaluation phase will take place entirely online, the final phase of the project will bring great live music back to the heart of Campania.
The city of Alife will indeed host the final concert featuring the absolute premiere performances of the winning works, an international musicology conference dedicated to the figure of Orazio Michi, and the official award ceremony. The winning piece will be awarded a First Prize worth 1,000 Euros.
Musical scores must be received without exception by October 31, 2026.
