The North Bay Chamber Orchestra invites composers of all ages and nationalities to
submit original orchestral works for consideration in upcoming concert seasons.
Selected works will be considered for live performance by the North Bay Chamber Orchestra, providing
composers with an opportunity to collaborate with a professionally-modeled ensemble dedicated to the
performance of contemporary music.
-Eligibility-
ā Open to composers of any age, nationality, and career stage.
ā Works previously performed by community or academic ensembles may be submitted.
ā Arrangements, transcriptions, and works requiring soloists are not eligible.
ā Composers may submit multiple works; each submission requires a separate entry fee.
-Instrumentation-
Submitted works must fall within three (3) instrumentation categories:
1. Classical-size Orchestra:
2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons ā 2 Horns, 2 Trumpets ā Timpani ā Strings (6.5.4.4.2)

3. Wind Dectet:

ā Works requiring additional percussion, keyboard instruments, harp, electronics, or larger forces cannot be
considered.
ā Works may be a subset of the above instrumentations. (i.e. Classical-size Orchestra with only one oboe and no trumpets [2122.2000.Timp.Stgs]).
-Duration-
Works must be shorter than 15 minutes in length.
-Selection Process-
Scores will be reviewed by a panel of members of the North Bay Chamber Orchestra, Music Director Alex
Arellano, and a Guest Panelist Robert Garza. Selection will be based on artistic merit, originality, and suitability for the ensemble.
Selected composers will be notified following the review process. The orchestra reserves the right not to select a work if no submission is deemed suitable.
-Rights-
Composers retain all rights to their music. Submission grants the North Bay Chamber Orchestra permission to
review submitted materials and, if selected, to perform the work in concert. Any recording or broadcast
arrangements will be discussed with selected composers.
