The competition is open to composers of all nationalities aged 18 and over.

The best composition of an original contemporary aria based on a sacred text will be performed in concert at the San Colombano Music Festival 2027

The composition must be written for voice and piano.
- The following vocal registers are allowed: bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, mezzo-soprano, soprano, countertenor
- Sacred text of the candidate's choice. The text may be in Latin, Italian, French, English, German, Spanish
- Maximum length 7 minutes
- The composition must be unpublished
