Submission Guidelines
Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring NYC- and Tokyo-based clarinetist Thomas Piercy and guest clarinetist collaborators to be premiered in performances in New York City, Tokyo, and other cities in Asia during the 2027 season.

Compose a bold, one-minute masterpiece! Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame seeks miniatures for two B-flat clarinets celebrating the musical bridge between Tokyo and New York. Selected works will be performed by Thomas Piercy alongside one of his clarinetist colleagues in each city where the duos are presented, including New York City, Tokyo, and Hanoi, creating a project that highlights international collaboration, cultural exchange, and contemporary musical voices across continents.

Only works one-minute in length for two B-flat clarinets will be considered.

Guidelines:

Works are for two B-flat clarinets only.
Works should be composed specifically for this call and performer.
Deadline for submissions is October 1, 2026.
All pieces must be premieres and not previously written or performed.
No works over one minute will be reviewed.
Multiple submissions are not accepted. Send your best work!
Works need to be submitted online at www.newmusicengine.org
You will need to register with New Music Engine for free to submit your work online.
After logging in to New Music Engine, select the opportunity named “Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Thomas Piercy and Guest Clarinetists” and press the “submit” button to start the submission process.
You will need to provide a maximum 50-word biography and 50-word program notes.
You will be able to upload a score as a PDF file. (You may also upload an audio file; however, it is not required.)
Must include the dedication to Thomas Piercy on the score.
Performance notes should be included in the score.
Results will be announced via the Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame website and the new music newsletter NM421.
Selected works will receive multiple performances in New York City and Asia.

About Thomas Piercy

Thomas Piercy is a critically acclaimed musician with orchestral, concerto, solo, and chamber music appearances throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His performances have been described by critics as “passionate,” “pulling out all the stops,” “the best Piazzolla in NYC,” and by the New York Times as “brilliant,” “playing with refinement and flair,” and “evoking a panache in the contemporary works.”

He studied at the Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music. He studied clarinet extensively with the English clarinetist Gervase De Peyer; additional studies were with Kalmen Opperman and Leon Russianoff.

A versatile artist defying categorization, Piercy performed clarinet on the Emmy Award-winning *Juno Baby* and hichiriki on the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series Blue Eye Samurai. Mr. Piercy has performed at many acclaimed concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and Tokyo Opera City Hall.

He has performed and premiered over 250 compositions written for him, including works by composers ranging from emerging voices to recipients of the Takemitsu Prize, Grammy Awards, Latin Grammy Awards, and the Pulitzer Prize, including Ned Rorem, Jennifer Higdon, Fernando Otero, and Richard Rodney Bennett.

Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame is 15 one-minute works written by different composers specifically for a musician or ensemble.

Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame gives audiences a wide variety of new music by living composers, showcasing what is being created in today’s contemporary music scene. The project has featured more than 75 musicians and ensembles premiering the works of over 1000 composers in New York City and internationally. Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame has presented performances across the United States and in more than 10 countries worldwide.
