JoULE's 2026-27 cohort invites contemporary electronic artists to submit works as part of the opening of the new KAIROS Hall, a new immersive audio and multimedia performance space based in Knoxville, TN. The call features two concert themes:
Theme 1 | Rhythmic & Popular Influences- Works may explore rhythm, groove, narrative, popular, or related contemporary practices. The cohort has many tastes but are primarily interested in hip-hop, metal, progressive mathcore, jazz, R&B, industrial, ambient, and jungle music.
Theme 2 | Open Call- An open invitation for all works involving electronic, electroacoustic, sound art, and/or audiovisual works without thematic restrictions.
Composers may submit one work per theme. Works may be of any duration, but preference will be given to works under fifteen minutes in duration. Works may be submitted with or without video. Accepted audio formats include 2.1 (stereo), 4.1, 5.1, 7.1, 8.1, Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics, SN3D, or FuMa. However, all submissions must be submitted as stereo reductions. Selected works will be presented in KAIROS' 9.1.2 or 13.2.4 loudspeaker system, with channel-based works summed and decoded through Ambisonics.
Biographies, socials, websites, and performing rights organization membership will be requested after selections are made. Concert programs will be submitted to ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC on behalf of the selected composers.
