- "Laute Lust" was awarded the ensemble price for the "Nocturne" Composition Competition. The composition is based on the poem “Der Abend” (1817) by Joseph von Eichendorff. In his romantic imagination, man can only find himself in the silence of the forest in the evening and let his heart be moved. Individual lines of poetry by Richard Dehmel, Alfred Wolfenstein and Georg Heym intersperse the Eichendorff verses with commentary. The poems of the Expressionists, written a good hundred years later, seem like a late response to the fears of the Romantics, who, as early as the 19th century, saw an escape into nature as a way out of the changing and industrializing world. Here, too, ideas of the evening are thematized, the contrast between city and country, the experiences of war. The texts meet in dialog across the abyss of time and combine to form a tentatively hopeful message to the present.
