- Program Notes
- When writing Remembrance, I wanted to showcase the lyrical ability of all three instruments, highlighting how expressive each one could be. Throughout the piece, the melody shifts between each instrument and varies itself every time it is played. The first section of the piece introduces the theme that starts with a muted trombone solo. The other two instruments join in and the melodic line shifts between each one throughout. The second section features a diminution of the theme in which the length of each note is cut in half. The third section augments and inverts the original theme as each note length is now doubled, allowing for a stronger and broader showcase of the music. While the final section of the piece is only five measures, it brings back the original tempo and note length, allowing for it to close in a similar style to how the piece opened.
