Composed for the 2008 āUPBEATā International Summer Music School in Milna, Croatia, Canzoni di Primavera (āsongs of springā in Italian) evokes an imaginary ritual to welcome the arrival of spring. While the piece is influenced by various musical traditions, including Balkan folk songs and North American fiddling, its own ācultureā is detached from any particular geographic area.
