Mango Street Mayhem

Growing up, I found myself often inspired by video games and their accompanying soundtracks. I commited a lot of hours in my youth to fully experiencing these games, as well as sharing them with my siblings and with my friends. As such, revisiting these soundtracks from my younger days fills me with a strong sense of nostalgia.

This piece, “Mango Street Mayhem,” celebrates such video game soundtracks through rhythmic groove, catchy melodies, and colorful instrumentation. It even features a “Vamp” section that gives the performers the opportunity to make this piece their own through the building layers. I encourage you to consider adding improvised solos/layers to this section to add to the jam feel.

It is my hope that this piece brings a sense of joy and nostalgia to performers and listeners alike.
